Check the institution and qualification recognition route before paying tuition
If you need an overseas qualification for Chinese civil-service recruitment, a state-owned employer, household registration, or a professional title, you may need formal recognition through the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, or CSCSE. Check the institution and program before paying. An agent's promise of “Ministry of Education recognition” is not enough.
What it takes
Nothing. Search the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange's institution lookup by name; it takes minutes.
What you may gain
CSCSE provides an institution lookup searchable by country and name, helping applicants investigate whether a foreign institution's qualifications fall within recognition arrangements. China's Ministry of Education also publishes oversight information on Chinese–foreign cooperative programs and overseas provision through its foreign-related education supervision website.
Context & considerations
Check the official information yourself rather than relying on an intermediary. Lists and institutional circumstances change, so review them during study as well as at admission. The original treats absence from the lookup as automatic nonrecognition; the lookup should be used to investigate the specific institution and program, not as a substitute for CSCSE's actual recognition decision. Chinese–foreign cooperative education uses a separate registration framework; for relevant students admitted after 2008, the source describes checking the registration number using name and Chinese identity number on the supervision website.
