Many cities offer 24-hour services; cited Chongqing figures are 29 clinics across 26 districts/counties, 14 operating around the clock. Call the local CDC to identify a stocked clinic rather than losing time at an unsuitable emergency department. Unprotected sex, condom failure, needlestick and blood on mucous membranes can warrant assessment; a clinician decides eligibility. Complete all 28 days, since missed doses reduce effectiveness.
