With a disability certificate, check eligibility for both disability allowances
Disabled people in minimum-living-assistance households may receive a living allowance. People assessed at disability level 1 or 2 who need long-term care may receive a care allowance. Eligible people can receive both. Provinces set the amounts, so ask locally and bring your second-generation disability certificate.
What it takes
Free. Bring your disability certificate to the township or subdistrict office and submit an application.
What you may gain
The State Council established two allowances. The living allowance initially covers disabled members of dibao households; places with sufficient resources may extend it to other low-income or disadvantaged disabled people. The care allowance covers people assessed at disability level 1 or 2 who require long-term care. A person meeting both sets of conditions can receive both payments.
Context & considerations
Provincial standards vary widely, from several dozen to several hundred RMB monthly. A second-generation disability certificate is required. A family member may apply on your behalf if applying yourself is difficult.
