Check notices of enhanced scrutiny or suspended recognition before enrolling
CSCSE can apply additional scrutiny to selected overseas institutions or suspend applications for particular institutions. Be especially careful with promises of no language requirement, no travel, or a master's degree in a few months. Check the actual notice rather than assuming an agent can guarantee recognition.
What it takes
Nothing. Search CSCSE's notices for the institution's name before paying.
What you may gain
CSCSE publishes notices placing some institutions' qualifications under enhanced recognition review. The latest notice identified in the original research was No. 9, dated October 28, 2025. The center has also announced suspensions for individual institutions and warned about scams using the qualification-recognition process.
Context & considerations
Enhanced scrutiny is not automatic refusal, but it can mean more evidence and longer review. Promises of “guaranteed recognition” or an “inside expedited channel” should be treated as fraud warnings; CSCSE has issued specific scam alerts. Ghostwritten dissertations or having someone else attend online courses can invalidate a qualification and may also affect immigration records. The source's claim that named institutions are usually those using such sales pitches should not be taken as a finding of misconduct against every institution under additional review.
