Around bears, wild boar or packs of stray dogs, do not run or scream; withdraw slowly
Bears run quickly uphill and downhill, and both black and brown bears can climb. Stay calm, speak in a low voice and move slowly sideways when the bear is still. The cited guidance says to play dead during a brown/grizzly bear attack, lying prone with hands behind the neck and legs apart; for a black-bear attack, do not play dead—seek a vehicle/building and fight back if escape is impossible. Free. Carry a walking pole, travel with others and make ordinary noise to alert wildlife before an encounter. Resisting flight is difficult.

US National Park Service bear advice includes not running, staying calm because most bears want to be left alone, speaking continuously in a low voice, moving slowly sideways when the bear is stationary so you can watch without tripping, appearing as large as possible, and not climbing trees because grizzly and black bears can climb. For grizzly/brown-bear attack it describes playing dead prone with hands clasped behind the neck and legs spread; for black-bear attack, escape to a vehicle/building or fight with available objects rather than play dead. Grade B applies only to bear guidance. Advice for boar and stray dogs—avoid running, retreat slowly and seek height or barriers—is experience-based, grade C; Chinese national/local forestry originals were not found. Do not lure animals with food, approach for photographs or take dogs into boar habitat. Chinese bears are predominantly black and brown bears, so the source distinguishes their attack responses.
