Apply for temporary assistance after a sudden crisis
A sudden crisis that leaves your household unable to meet basic needs can qualify for temporary assistance. You do not have to be an existing minimum-living-assistance recipient. Aid is commonly a one-off payment, with amounts varying widely by location.
What it takes
Free. Apply to the township government or subdistrict office and explain the event: a fire, traffic accident, a family member’s sudden serious illness, or an unaffordable rise in essential expenses. Following review and public notice, the county civil-affairs department makes the decision. Prepare documents from the local checklist; one or two visits are typical.
What you may gain
The national framework covers households temporarily unable to meet basic living expenses because of an accident, a family member’s sudden major illness, or similar event. It also covers minimum-living-assistance households whose essential expenses suddenly rise beyond their capacity. County-level or higher local governments determine and publish the covered situations and payment amounts. The nationwide system dates from 2014, with amounts set locally.
Context & considerations
Existing minimum-living-assistance status is not required for every category. Payments are usually one-off, and local differences are substantial. Use the rules and amounts published locally for the current year.
